Judson Manor’s longstanding artist-in-residence program with the Cleveland Institute of Music recently expanded to its sister community Judson Park, where two young musicians have found new homes and new friendships.
Pianist April Sun, 25, and violinist Nina Sandberg, 22, took up residence at Judson Park this past fall. Their onsite presence recognizes the power of proximity in forging intergenerational bonds.
While the opportunity to hone their performance skills in front of an engaged, receptive audience is invaluable, the women say that living among their audience is even better. “My neighbors are the nicest people!” says Nina. “The accessibility and proximity of a residency is a real plus.
“Living at Judson Park is like living with family,” she says. “There’s a wonderful sense of community here.”
