Mr. Nunes will discuss his journey from film and theatre producer to art school president, with side trips in journalism and higher education administration, culminating in his engagement with and observations of the cultural marvel that is Cleveland.
About Grafton J. Nunes
Mr. Nunes came to The Cleveland Institute of Art from Emerson College where he served as dean of the School of the Arts, a school he founded and led for 12 years. Prior to Emerson, Nunes served for 22 years at Columbia University concluding his time there as Associate Dean of Columbia’s School of the Arts. At both Emerson and Columbia, Nunes was centrally involved in the development, implementation, and fundraising for extensive capital projects including a $77 million complex of theaters, residence halls, and classrooms at Emerson. In addition to his work in higher education, Nunes has had an active career as a film writer and producer, including his production of the film The Loveless, directed by Oscar-winning director Kathryn Bigelow.
