When I think back on my journey to wellness and the National Senior Games, a few key thoughts come to mind. Most importantly, it is the journey that is important, not the destination. How I finished at the Nationals really doesn’t matter–that I made the effort is all that counts. I remember talking with Frank Ondus at South Franklin Circle several years ago about getting into shape. His words of wisdom were “It’s not important what you do. What is important is that you do.”
The race is important as a goal. It makes getting out and training purposeful. The result is icing on the cake. I’m incredibly pleased that I made this journey and am very thankful for all of the support and encouragement I have received in this effort.
It has been a great adventure.
