Our bodies have a built in warning system that alerts us when things are not quite right. We can either ignore the signs or take action.
South Franklin Circle wellness center member and Bainbridge resident Bill Cloninger knew something wasn’t right when a mile walk in the park left him out of breath. This was May of 2010 and he weighed 265 pounds.
Fortunately, the senior fraud investigator at KeyBank took action. He started walking regularly, and by the end of the summer his weight showed dramatic changes.
Encouraged by the weight loss, he joined the Wellness Program at South Franklin Circle for a more extensive exercise regimen utilizing stationary bikes and weights. By May of 2011 he was down to 190 pounds.
Bill always enjoyed cycling so he decided to dust off the old bike and renew his love of the road. Eventually, he purchased a new high-tech cycle, and entered some cycling competitions with remarkable results.
By April of 2012, he had lost 95 lbs, his percentage of body fat dropped a minimum of 10% and he feels great!
To recap, here are the things that Bill did right:
This one-time out of shape executive is climbing new heights in his quest for a healthier lifestyle. These photos were taken during a recent trek up Mt. Ventoux in France, which is 6,000 feet (1,900 meters) above sea level.
Bill also scales heights in a different way–he serves as event director of the Hot Air Balloon Festival portion of Chagrin Falls’ annual Blossom Time Festival.
