Judson Park retirement community will offer The Painted Word, an Off-Campus Studies course via Case Western Reserve University that focuses on the works of novelist W. Somerset Maugham. The course meets on Fridays, September 28-November 16, 2012, 10:30-11:30 a.m., at Judson Park, 2181 Ambleside Drive, Cleveland, OH 44106.

W. Somerset Maugham is one of the great novelists of the English language. An intrepid traveler and first-class observer, Maugham wrote about the Orient and South Pacific long before others did. He beckoned us to faraway places with his bewitching narratives written in the best storyteller tradition. Class books: The Painted Veil; Of Human Bondage. Class will also view the film The Painted Veil with Edward Norton.
