About Suzan Kraus
Ohio native Suzan Kraus began pursuing her dream of becoming an artist when she moved to Texas in 1998, leaving behind a career in floral and garden design. She attended Houston’s Glassell School of Art, studied privately with various prominent Houston artists, and learned Chinese brush painting at Rice University. Her work was accepted into two galleries, and she won awards at the Watercolor Art Society, Houston. As a member of the Society of Layerists in Multi Media, her work was juried into a show at the Albuquerque Museum of Art.
Upon returning to Ohio her work has been juried into a number of prestigious places such as The Butler Museum of American Art, The Erie Museum, and the Hoyt Institute of Fine Art. Most recently she has become a member of the Artist Archives of the Western Reserve, a distinguished organization that preserves the work of notable Northeast Ohio artists. Suzan’s preferred method of doing art is collage/mixed media where she incorporates beautiful handmade papers from around the world with other materials into one piece of art, creating an interesting, eclectic mix of layers.
