Former West Side Resident Enjoys Judson Park’s Eclectic Mix of Cleveland Heights and University Circle

Beth Bohn is part of a growing trend at Judson-she and her husband Earl moved to Judson Park from the west side of Cleveland.

So why did the Westlake couple choose to cross the river?

“We came for all the things University Circle has to offer,” says Beth. “We love having the Cleveland Orchestra and the Art Museum, in our back yard now! Plus, it’s great to be close to the world-class healthcare of Cleveland Clinic and University Hospitals.”

The Bohns like Judson Park’s distinct personality which marries the tranquil suburban setting of Cleveland Heights with the uptown ambience of University Circle. “There’s a special mix of people here-both residents and staff,” says Beth. “And the Chestnut Hills neighborhood is breathtaking. You can’t beat the Park’s landscape. I love welcoming people to my beautiful front yard!” she laughs.

She and Earl have made many new friends. On weekends you can find them dining at some of Cleveland’s trendiest restaurants, including L’Albatros and Table 45, or attending a world premiere at The Cleveland Play House. “I believe a good life includes strong bonds with friends,” says Beth.

Beth also enjoys a life long passion for art. After graduating from Oberlin College, she worked as an assistant in the print department at the Cleveland Museum of Art. Fast forward to today-Beth co-chairs the resident committee that programs shows in Judson Park’s Howson Gallery. The exhibits rotate on a six week basis, feature prominent local artists, and are free and open to the public.

Committee members attend gallery openings around town to get to know the work of local artists. In 2012, the gallery took part in a city-wide event tied to Cleveland’s hosting the 2012 International Papermaking Conference. “It has been a privilege to serve on the committee. I continue to learn about the east side’s artistic community,” says Beth.

“The gallery has strengthened its reputation in the community. Artists want to show their work here,” notes Beth. “The opening receptions are always a healthy mix of residents and outside folks. People look forward to the shows.”

“I like to be busy,” says Beth. “There is always something new and exciting to get involved with here at Judson Park.”
