South Franklin Circle presents a new, science-focused lecture series, Curators and Cocktails, in collaboration with The Cleveland Museum of Natural History.
The series kicks off with "Bird Tales: Ornithology at The Cleveland Museum of Natural History," with Andy Jones, Ph.D., Tuesday, February 21, 4:30-6:00 p.m. at South Franklin Circle, 16600 Warren Court, Bainbridge Township. Guests can enjoy cocktails as Dr. Jones, Director of Science at The Cleveland Museum of Natural History, explains how The Museum's 30,000 bird specimens are used by researchers here in Cleveland and around the world to study all aspects of the biology of birds, or ornithology.
About Andy Jones, Ph.D.
Dr. Andy Jones is the Director of Science as well as the William A.
and Nancy R. Klamm Endowed Chair of Ornithology at The Cleveland
Museum of Natural History. He oversees the Museum's 30,000 bird
research specimens, and publishes original research using these
specimens. His research is primarily molecular, using DNA sequences
to understand evolutionary history in birds, particularly in the
Philippines. Dr. Jones was among 14 prominent American
ornithologists to be named an elective member of the American
Ornithologists' Union in 2009.
