Judson residents surprised their pottery teacher, Donna Ernst (above, right, with guest artist Tamara Unger), with a party to celebrate her 20 years of dedication and inspiration. Donna has been providing weekly pottery classes at both Judson Park and Judson Manor for two decades. Her classes are a component of creative arts opportunities made available to residents in all levels of care. Donna is skilled in adapting materials and techniques so everyone can participate and enjoy success. Her caring nature and positive spirit inspires even the most tentative of students to "Just do it - I know you can!"
Lois Klaus, resident and life-long potter, remarked that "Donna has been the person who has contributed the most to my life here at Judson. She just got me to continue making pots!" Another resident added that she especially likes that Donna has shared her adventures and family stories with the residents over the years. "She is like family"
Her devoted students planned the party in conjunction with Wednesday's pottery demonstration by guest artist, Tamara Unger. Over 50 residents attended, resulting in a quite a surprise for Donna, an excellent and fun demonstration, and a lively celebration for all.
